This is my wonderful tap teacher Jacob Stonebraker. He's currently enjoying the sights and sounds of the U.S. Marines, but I hope he'll return to teach soon! Here we show off the "fast version" of a Thursday night dance.
Kristen Jorden submission video
My goal was to work on a 3 minute dance with my teacher, get good enough to record it to submit to The Big Apple Tap Fest, and then get rejected. Mission accomplished! This took me a year of work, and it's incredible for me (but mediocre for professionals), so the action of making the dance/video was quite enough. Next step: perform enough around town so that I'm actually ready to perform in New York!
Rhythm is Everywhere
I was asked to explain to a crowd of people why I love dancing. This is what I came up with. Although it's not the most well-executed performance, it perfectly captures why I love tapping!
Shim Sham Big Apple 2017
This might be the closest I ever get to the Big Apple Showcase stage! All are invited to do the Shim Sham at the end of the showcase, and so I spent the last year learning it, so I could participate! Too bad you can't see anything other than my smiling face. I assure you I was killin' it back there!
InTandem - A flashmob of Empathy
This was my first introduction to Roshni--a flashmob at the Denver Art Museum to promote empathy!
